We run cookieless-first analytics. From the moment you arrive, without any cookie or consent banner, we collect anonymous, aggregate usage data to understand how the site performs:
This layer sets no persistent identifier and no advertising cookies. A tab-scoped session id (km_sid) may group a single visit; it lives in your browser's session storage and is cleared when you close the tab. This data is never sold, and never used for advertising or remarketing.
We set a single first-party, pseudonymous cookie (km_vid) only when you take a deliberate action that implies you want us to recognise you — specifically when you:
Each of these controls shows a short notice at the point of action. Once set, km_vid lets us link your visits so we can understand and follow up on genuine interest. It holds a random identifier only — no name, no email. It is never used for advertising. You can decline it, or withdraw it later, at any time (see Manage your cookie preferences below). We do not set km_vid for casual browsing or for the "Read next" links between articles.
When you submit the contact form or a 48h Review request, we collect the information you provide — such as your name, email, company, role, and description of your situation. This is used only to respond to your inquiry or to deliver the requested service. Legal basis: legitimate interest / steps prior to a contract.
The checker is anonymous by default. No account or email is required to complete it. If you choose to provide an email address, it is stored alongside your result. Your answers (12 questions, scored 0–4) are retained to allow aggregate pattern analysis across submissions. No personally identifiable information is required.
If you subscribe to The Pattern, we store your email address and subscription source. Emails are sent via a third-party delivery service. Every issue includes a one-click unsubscribe link — immediate, no barriers, no re-confirmation required.

We do not use Google Analytics or any third-party analytics or advertising cookies. Anonymous analytics are first-party and self-hosted.

We do not use Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Facebook Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag, or any advertising or remarketing technology. We do not profile visitors for commercial targeting. All analytics are first-party and self-hosted.

Change your choice at any time:
Analytics data is retained for up to 12 months. Contact form submissions and review requests are retained for as long as the business relationship warrants. Subscriber records are retained until unsubscribed, after which they are deactivated and removed within 30 days.
Some services we rely on are operated by companies based outside the EU/EEA. Where applicable, transfers are covered by Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions recognised by the European Commission.
Material changes will be noted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the site after a material change constitutes acknowledgement of the updated policy.
